Tot Trays in Action
In addition to coloring his purple book, Magoo colored at the art table almost every day. After sorting all our markers, colored pencils and crayons into cans by color, Magoo has started to ask for specific colors by name. He was very into coloring with the pink highlighter this week.
After the success with lacing beads last week, I recreated the tray with purple pipe cleaners and beads. It was the first tray Magoo grabbed and he worked with it all week. Even Bebop wanted a turn.
I introduced big and small to Magoo this week. He sorted the pompons once, then just wanted to play with them.
This is not the first time we’ve sorted by color, but it is the first time Magoo was able to do it without help. He also had fun building towers with the cans and monkeys.
This was the start of a mouse hat craft that we didn’t finish. Magoo was fascinated by mixing colors and wanted to try out every brush we have.
We had a few rainy days this week so we did recess indoors. I gave Magoo a target bin and let him throw balls. He loved this game, I have a feeling we’ll play it all winter.
I was talking to a friend last week who is a seasoned (10 years?) homeschool mom. She was teasing me about how organized I try to be with the kids. This is proof that many times the plans get thrown out and chaos rules. She did make a really good point, its not worth all the planning if it just stresses me out. Truthfully, I’m more stressed when I don’t have a plan than the bit of time it takes me to plan out school each week. Thank you Tami for all your support and advice!
