This is a wrap up of our week trying to find a balance between doing school and just having fun.
Bebop is 5 years old, Magoo is 2 1/2, Doodad is 7 months.
This week my parents took Bebop on a special trip, so I only had two boys for most of the week. Bebop will guest post later this week and tell you all about his trip.
Magoo was really upset about his brother being gone (top left picture). This is the first time the two big boys have been apart since Magoo was born. Apparently he wasn’t nearly this upset when I was gone over a weekend for the 2 to 1 conference in April. Magoo quickly figured out that life without a big brother meant he could play with whatever he wanted. I quickly put together a transportation sensory bin (bottom left) and that kept Magoo busy for most of the week. He also asked to do play dough several times (top right). The basement guys came on Wednesday to install large metal plates to brace the wall that was cracked. Magoo “helped” me move things in the basement so they could work (center) and loved playing in the yard while the crew worked (bottom right).
Doodad is now mobile! I wouldn’t call him crawling yet, but the boy can definitely get where he wants to go. So far he’s only moved a few feet from where I set him down, but the era of baby gates is upon us again. I just have to decide which rooms I want to baby proof.
With Bebop gone, I used our normal school time to do some planing for next year. You may have seen this picture if you follow me on Instagram. I’m pulling from the Teaching the Classics and Five in a Row reading lists to plan out unit studies for next year. Any suggestions for favorite books you read with your kindergartner?
