With winter in full swing around here, I wanted to share one of my best dairy free secrets: How to make hot chocolate!
Hot chocolate mix usually is intended to be mixed with just hot water and contains powdered milk proteins to thicken the final drink. Chocolate milk mix on the other hand tends to be just cocoa powder and sugar. I’ve been able to consistently find dairy free Nesquick at WalMart. Be sure to double check the label as they have multiple types of chocolate and only the plain is without powdered milk proteins.
I use vanilla almond milk, heated either on the stove or in the microwave, to make our hot chocolate. The boys also love when I add mini marshmallows. I can usually find them in the same section of the grocery store as the chocolate milk mix.
This is the perfect dairy free treat to make after a day of playing in the snow!
